Willow Haven Secluded Creekside Cabin

Our stay at Willow Haven was perfect! We celebrated our son's birthday with a few cadets from VMI and the house and grounds and game room shed was perfect for it. There were many options for sitting and enjoying the peaceful quiet view (during moments alone) with the grassy yard area, the screened porch with a great swing or even the large picture windows when inside. We really liked the layout of the house with an area for my husband and me and a friend and his son and then the other side of the house for the cadets. The kitchen doesn't have a lot of counter available but it's easy to make do with a large round table with a big lazy susan on top. Perfect seating for a bunch of cadets who sat for good lengths of time eating a lot! We didn't get a chance to use the fire pit but it no doubt would have been enjoyable to do so and look up at the stars. Not a lot of light pollution happening there. As crazy as this might seem, the most important aspect for me was the ease of controlling the thermostat! Getting a temperature in the house needed for a good night sleep makes all the difference. A dark room, comfortable bed, sound machine (we brought) and a cool temperature made for a perfect sleeping situation! And after catering to a bunch of cadets throughout the weekend, my sleep was crucial!Willow Haven was very accommodating and comfortable and made for a relaxed weekend even though my husband and I were hosting and entertaining a lot.

This place was great! We had a wonderful family trip! My kids all asked if we could live there! Ha. We enjoyed the convenience to Lexington with the quiet creekside location. We saw a few deer out the window in the evenings and early mornings! Great experience! We would rent again!

If you are looking for a secluded stay in a very nice, spacious place, this is perfect. We had a rainy weekend - but outdoor amenities are wonderful in good weather. Close to Lexington proper and has delivery services for food.

Cabin was very quaint, excellent location, easy drive to get there from the main road, and plenty of rooms/beds for our party.The creek was excellent, the kids spent plenty of time in there wading around and catching crawfish. The outdoor space was great, clean, and plenty entertaining for everyone.Inside, the furniture was plentiful and comfortable. Everything was updated for the most part and the beds/seating was comfortable.We did have a few hiccups, stink bugs everywhere in the house, especially in the upstairs rooms. My sister chose to sleep on the couch downstairs because of it. I understand the feel of a cabin, but it was pretty excessive. The toilet in the bathroom off the kitchen didn't work half the time because of the flush kit, should be updated to match the other toilet. And the toilet seat needed to be replaced. And the floors everywhere in the house are not level, I assume because of the way everything has settled over the years. This is an old property updated to be nicer. This wasn't a big issue for us, however we had 2 elderly folks in our party and I was very concerned for them moving around.All in all this house and location did us well, and would for sure recommend it to others. Just wanted to mention the few things that we noticed.

This was a great property with so much rustic charm! It was the perfect spot for us to gather with all of our kids and grandchildren. The creek and game room were perfect spaces to hang out. We spent most of the day just sitting by the creek.
